2009 Concert Archives
When was the last time you were spirited away? Since 1990 many remarkable guest artists have taken Brandenburg audiences on fabulous musical journeys. Our very first journey was shared with celebrated baroque cellist Hidemi Suzuki. Over the years, Hidemi has come back to the Brandenburg and our audiences have come to adore this artist, whose performances have been described as of 'sublime and profound beauty'. Now Hidemi returns as maestro, to lead us from the haunting depths of the underworld in Boccherini's fierce House of the Devil to the theatrical genius of Haydn's Farewell Symphony. This program will also include the Australian premiere of a rare masterwork by Myslivecek, a composer described by Mozart as exuding 'fire, spirit and life'. Mozart's own Horn Concerto featuring the Brandenburg's Darryl Poulsen will complete this collection by maestros which is destined to sweep you away. Program
