When was the last time you were spirited away?

Since 1990 many remarkable guest artists have taken Brandenburg audiences on fabulous musical journeys. Our very first journey was shared with celebrated baroque cellist Hidemi Suzuki.

Over the years, Hidemi has come back to the Brandenburg and our audiences have come to adore this artist, whose performances have been described as of 'sublime and profound beauty'. Now Hidemi returns as maestro, to lead us from the haunting depths of the underworld in Boccherini's fierce House of the Devil to the theatrical genius of Haydn's Farewell Symphony.

This program will also include the Australian premiere of a rare masterwork by Myslivecek, a composer described by Mozart as exuding 'fire, spirit and life'. Mozart's own Horn Concerto featuring the Brandenburg's Darryl Poulsen will complete this collection by maestros which is destined to sweep you away.

When was the last time you indulged yourself?

Any lover of baroque music will find this splendid program of Italian and German concertos performed on period instruments irresistible.

International sensation Ingrid Matthews, Music Director of the Seattle Baroque Orchestra, loves leaping and running across the virtuosic tightrope. She is the perfect choice for scaling the peaks of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No 4, with its brilliant solo violin writing.

Under the mastery of Matthews, three different faces of the prolific Antonio Vivaldi will be brought vividly to life. Sparks will fly with the competitive duelling of his fiery Concerto for 4 Violins. From the scintillating to the solemn, the emotionally charged sinfonia al Santo Sepolcro will melt your heart. The final face of Vivaldi will be revealed in the spectacular Concerto in F Major, a dazzling display of invention and skill.

Other highlights will include Weichlein's swinging Canon über das Post-Hörnl with its cheeky vitality, and the whirling dance rhythms of Geminiani's La Folia, which will get your blood pumping!

When was the last time you were moved to tears?

There is a story that the gravely ill Mozart invited his close friends to gather around his bed and sing parts to his unfinished Requiem. Upon hearing the opening bars of the mournful Lacrimosa, Mozart burst into tears and refused to go on. A few days later, he was dead.

Mozart's Requiem transfixed millions of people worldwide when it featured in the Oscar winning film Amadeus. In recent years, the Requiem's appearance in pop culture from comic book movies to goth metal has introduced a new generation of music lovers to the haunting beauty of Mozarts unfinished work.

In 2009, discover the monumental drama of Mozart's Requiem, performed for the very first time in Australia on the period instruments it was written for, together with the glorious Brandenburg Choir.

This celebration of Mozart will also showcase the composer's magnificent Linz Symphony, penned in only four days! This tour-de-force, created by Mozart in the face of an impending performance for which he had no music, will have you cheering and stomping for more.
