Preview Zadok the Priest as seen at the
Danish Royal Wedding here!

A Brandenburg celebration is not complete without a choir. And no birthday is complete without a rousing group song. From Purcell’s seventeenth century royal court music, to the ecstatic eighteenth century coronation music by Handel, hear the glorious sound of soaring voices and period instruments.

The party theme is English Baroque and the music starts with an orchestral favourite, Purcell's Abdelazar, before blooming into the choral bliss of his Birthday Ode to Queen Mary. Then discover the joy of Handel in Concerto a due cori, full of his stirring signature melodies and the brilliant sound of four baroque horns. The evening ends with an electrifying finish, with rousing period trumpets, horns and drums: Handel’s crowning choral jewel, Zadok the Priest, used in every British coronation since 1727.

An awe-inspiring celebration of magnificent music and song.
