"Our Handel Concerti Grossi CD was made in an unusual way. Each of the 12 concertos on these discs was performed live to thousands of concertgoers before we went into the recording studio. This gave our musicians a chance to know the music intimately, to develop the precision, the timing and the judgment, and to see how audiences responded to this music. Four years after starting this journey of rehearsal, performance and recording, we achieved an extraordinary result that we are all so proud of. Ultimately, you don't have to know Handel or a harpsichord to listen to this music. You just have to feel passion, energy, love and longing and then just dive right in. To receive an award decided by people all around Australia is the greatest accolade. It reminds us of the universal beauty and joy in Baroque music, that 18th century music is for 21st century minds."
