Baroque trumpets Leanne Sullivan and Rainer Saville are ready to take to the stage for Noël! Noël!
The Brandenburg prides itself on feeling like one big family, so when a student of one of our musicians moves into the ranks of the orchestra, they are always welcomed. Leanne was Rainer's trumpet teacher for ten years, and now they often perform side-by-side at the Brandenburg. This will be Rainer's first Noël! Noël! with the Brandenburg, and he is very excited.
"Leanne always expected nothing less than complete dedication to my studies from me when I was her student," Rainer says. "It was a great basis for learning how to behave in a professional orchestra."
"Leanne has always been very supportive - both as a teacher and colleague. We make a great team, over the time we've known each other we've developed a great friendship, Leanne has the best jokes! It's fantastic to be performing with her and the Brandenburg."
You can hear Leanne and Rainer perform together in Noël! Noël! this December, where they will perform the Allegro from Vivaldi's Concerto for Two trumpets in C Major. Rainer will debut his new baroque trumpet, handmade in switzerland by Rainer Egger. Leanne also plays an Egger trumpet; the two sound extraordinary together. Rainer says "My trumpet is brand new and currently a little too shiny for my liking - I'm looking forward to playing it in during this season and gaining some battle scars. With any luck it'll start to look as 'baroque' as Leanne's soon!"
