Our musicians would like you to know how precious the Brandenburg is to them
The Brandenburg inspires and uplifts audiences who, with our musicians, are ambassadors for baroque and early music in Australia.
“Paul is so full of joy and never complacent. Until the very last performance of a series, he is always asking what more can we do to improve. He never sits still and says ‘that’s good enough’.
“Without the Brandenburg, my life would not have been so fulfilling or fun. When I return to teaching after a Brandenburg series, I am full of excitement and can’t wait to share the experience with my students. It greatly benefits them to interact with someone who is able to share firsthand the buzz of live performance. These students are hopefully our audiences of the future.”

The Brandenburg enables pathways for local emerging talent through mentoring and professional development.
“I had been having a really tough time professionally as a young performer, and wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue with music. It was becoming very challenging to negotiate juggling other work commitments while trying to focus on building a performance career. Paul encouraged me to sing for him, and I did. He asked me to not only perform with the Brandenburg Choir, but gave me a solo part.
“It was a real turning point at a time I had a crisis of faith. Paul recognised that and helped me rediscover my faith in myself as a performer. Without his mentorship, I don’t think I would still be performing.”

Sharing the joy and wonder of baroque music across Australia is at the heart of the Brandenburg.
“I would love to see the Brandenburg present more concerts, particularly in rural settings. Being from regional NSW, I know that a regular Brandenburg tour to regional centres would enhance the local cultural life, particularly for young people who otherwise would have limited access to live baroque performance.
“Brandenburg is a leader in developing audiences for baroque music in Australia. Music education and professional development for teachers is a vital component of this mission. Inspired teachers mean inspired children, and we need to empower non-specialist teachers with knowledge so they can expose young people to the joy, wonder and beauty of baroque music.”
